Our next Council Member for District 8 will be challenged with addressing issues ranging from property tax relief to public safety to transportation. Southwest Austin has concerns unique to our area, and I believe those concerns must be heard. I will work tirelessly to address your concerns and to ensure that your voice is heard. I've dedicated almost two decades to serving others, and that's not about to change. I believe that leadership is about the actions you take, not the position you hold. Feel confident that, "You can call on me!"

CodeNEXT Fails to Address Gentrification

Be a voice! Otherwise, "the residents most at risk of being displaced may be the least likely to weigh in." CodeNEXT does not clearly address gentrification.

Recent SB4 Q & A

Q:

"What is your stand on sanctuary cities and Austin using tax payers money on legal representation for non citizens?"

A:

"If you're asking me whether or not I believe that everyone, regardless of immigration status, has a right to due process of law, the answer is yes. Aside from my belief, existing case law (including US v. Verdugo-Urquidez) undeniably supports this.

I am proud that Austin joined other cities and organizations in standing up for what is right by challenging the constitutionality of SB4.

As I am sure you know, ICE detainers are not legal mandates. Additionally, it has been my experience that, as a whole, ICE's error rates far surpass their accuracy rates.

Lastly, as a police officer, I submit that SB4 will negatively impact and/or otherwise deter crime reporting, thereby undermining community safety. Related testimony was provided to the lege by countless law enforcement professionals across the state prior to passing SB4."
